Let’s be honest: Liberty Bridge is stunning, but t Let’s be honest: Liberty Bridge is stunning, but the Chain Bridge has my heart. Budapest’s true gem, if you ask me. 💎💙

When I started planning my trip to Budapest, every recommendation seemed to point to Liberty Bridge. And after visiting, I completely understand why — it’s beautiful.
But somehow, I kept finding myself drawn back to Széchenyi Chain Bridge. Morning, afternoon, or shortly before sunset, it looked incredible every single time. The views, the light, the details, the backdrop of Buda and the surrounding buildings. It all felt a little more magical to me. ✨

So maybe this is an unpopular opinion and it’s just me, but the Chain Bridge was the one that truly stole my heart. And if I could only revisit one bridge in Budapest, I wouldn’t have to think twice.

❔If you have visited Budapest already: Are you team Chain Bridge or Liberty Bridge? Drop your favorite in the comments! 🤭

Budapest City Guide (Part 2) 5️⃣ After all the wal Budapest City Guide (Part 2)
5️⃣ After all the walking in the morning, the Ferris Wheel in Erzsébet (Elizabeth) Square offers a peaceful, floating pause above the city. 🎡 An eight-minute ride costs around 13€ and gives you a bird’s-eye view of Budapests cityscape. It’s open every day until 11:00 pm making it the perfect spot to sit back and watch Budapest by day (or night).

6️⃣ Just a few steps away you will find the St. Stephen’s Basilica. ⛪️ A neoclassical landmark that once served as the spiritual heart of Budapest, dedicated to St. Stephen I, the first King of Hungary. For around 12€, you can enter to witness the golden mosaics and solemn atmosphere. If you purchase a combo ticket (18€) you can also climb the dome’s stairs for a panorama terrace view. 🙌🏻

💡Tip: Choose the dome climb if you want the a 360-degree view of the city, but opt for the Ferris Wheel if you’d rather enjoy a moving vantage point where you can actually see the Basilica itself framed within the skyline.

7️⃣ To cut through the afternoon haze, duck into @meron.budapest. Each espresso is poured with deliberate care. ☕️ Whether you grab a cup to go or sit down for a moment, that sip serves as a gentle reminder to slow down and truly absorb the day’s journey before tackling the next stops. A brief, peaceful pause to reflect on everything you’ve seen so far.

Extra Stop: @cookiebeacon
🍪 If the chimney cake earlier didn’t satisfy your sweet tooth, or if you’re just craving something indulgent again, stop by Beacon Cookies for what might be the most incredible chunky, gooey treat in the city. These generously filled cookies are amazing. 🤤 A messy delight that feels like a perfect, sugary punctuation mark to your walking tour. Honestly, they’re an absolute 12/10.

Part 3 will be the grand finale! 🤍 Ready for it? 👀

Walk through Budapest with me and discover some pe Walk through Budapest with me and discover some peaceful scenes that made me stop to take a photo. 📸

✨ Late afternoon on the Chain Bridge, looking toward Buda where the sun casts its magical light on the houses.

✨ Sunset in front of the Hungarian Parliament; it looks as if the lantern is illuminated, but in fact it is the sun that makes it shine.

✨ The serene parliament building as seen from the Margaret Bridge.

✨ Blue hour, early in the morning. The view through the gate toward the heart of the Castle Hill district shows the St. Stephen Equestrian Statue.

✨ From the banks of the Danube, the view of Budapest’s Chain Bridge is simply picturesque.

Which scene do you like best? 🤍

Budapest City Guide 1️⃣ Starting at Castle Hill, s Budapest City Guide
1️⃣ Starting at Castle Hill, spending the morning at The Church of Our Lady of Buda Castle (Matthias Church) and Fisherman’s Bastion. The Buda side reveals scenery that looks straight out of a storybook. The Church stands out for its vibrant, patterned roof tiles, while the Bastion’s pointed towers and arched windows leave you breathless with their fairytale charm.

2️⃣ From there, go to Buda Castle. If you like you can visit the museum and historic halls or you just wander around and enjoy the castle grounds which offer sweeping views over Pest. Take a moment to really soak it in before heading downhill through the Castle Garden Bazaar to explore the other side of the city.

3️⃣ After a leisurely walk down the hill, you’ll step onto the Liberty Bridge, instantly recognizable by its striking green color. It’s a lively spot where the hum of yellow trams and the river breeze blend together; the view is so beautiful that you barely notice the crowds moving around you. Crossing this bridge feels like checking a major box off your Budapest bucket list.

4️⃣ Time for a proper lunch break, and skipping the classics here would be a mistake. Start with a hot Lángos, that crispy deep-fried flatbread piled high with sour cream and cheese. Followed by a warm, spiral chimney cake (Kürtőskalács) for dessert. While there are plenty of flavors to try, the traditional cinnamon-sugar version remains my favorite.

An espresso escape and breakfast heaven all in one An espresso escape and breakfast heaven all in one — that’s @meron.coffee. 🤍

Meron is centrally located in the V. district in Budapest. They have an inside and outside seating area and it’s a great place to start your morning. ☀️
They have a wonderful, carefully selected breakfast menu and great coffee!
I went for the oatmeal bowl 🥣 which was absolutely amazing 🤤 and a Marrakesh (double shot espresso but a little bit more milk than a Flat White). ☕️

Feeling totally relaxed and still happy about the breakfast choice, I set off to explore Budapest. Within a short walking distance (10 minutes) you’ll be at the banks of the Danube from where you can just go with the flow.

@meron.budapest belongs to @meron.coffee the roastery behind the cafés located throughout Hungary. Meron is roasting in Transylvania and you can buy a variety of specialty coffees from them.

So do I recommend going here? YES! 👌🏻 Definitely make sure to save this post for your trip to Budapest, if you enjoy a great breakfast and specialty coffee.
