A Beautiful Morning and Lovely Sip at Meron

After chasing the early morning light at Fisherman’s Bastion, I crossed over to Pest and found the perfect spot, where the coffee and breakfast carried on the gentle atmosphere of the morning.

Spot & Setting

There is always a distinct magic to a city before it fully wakes up. And that magic was reflected not only in one, but in two places that day.

I started my day at the Fisherman’s Bastion, and after I enjoyed a wonderfully peaceful view of the city from there, I crossed over from Buda to Pest and shortly after 8:30 AM I arrived at Meron Specialty Coffee.
The café had just opened and I was lucky enough to snag a wonderful window seat.

The April morning was beautiful, but the early air still carried a bit of a crisp edge. So choosing breakfast at Meron wasn’t a hard decision. Porridge is my ultimate comfort when it comes to eating a hearty breakfast. It’s warming, sweet, and exactly what I want after a mild but still a little chilly start of the day. So the decision was made quickly, and it turned out to be the perfect choice.

This is what i ordered

I ordered the oatmeal bowl, prepared with creamy coconut milk, fresh berries, pecans, and a rich apple jam, and a Marrakesh (a double espresso with just a touch more milk than a standard Flat White).

Served & Sipped

When a café honors the craft of both the food and the brew, it elevates the entire morning.
The ordered oatmeal bowl, prepared with creamy coconut milk, fresh berries, pecans, and a rich apple jam was easily one of the best oatmeal bowls I’ve ever had. The perfect harmony of bright fruit acidity against a comforting, sweet, velvety base.

For coffee I chose their Mexico Monte Azul. A 100% Arabica, naturally processed bean with tasting notes of chocolate, plums, and brown sugar. I ordered a Marrakesh (double espresso with just a touch more milk than a standard Flat White). My choice of mil was oat milk.

The flavor was nice: a rich, full, round, and sweet aromatic impression with a gorgeous hint of darkness. It was an incredibly pleasant, comforting sip that perfectly complemented the crisp morning air outside.

Space & Soul

The interior at Meron speaks directly to a minimalist’s heart. The design is exceptionally clean, balancing the industrial cool of stone elements with the grounding warmth of natural wood in the chairs and desks. It’s a space that feels instantly comfortable, allowing your eyes to rest without visual clutter.

What truly ties the soul of the space together are the cheerful, intentional pops of yellow. It seems to be their signature touch, subtly brightening up everything from the to-go cups to the packaging of their house-roasted beans.

As the clock ticked on, the café slowly began to buzz with a gentle energy as locals drifted in for their morning takeaway cups. So just as the space began to get busy, I packed up my camera and stepped back onto the pavement for a soft, slow walk along the Danube toward the Hungarian Parliament and Margaret Bridge. After this wonderful experience I was ready for the day ahead!
